Mental Health and Me

As it’s world mental health day I wish to share with you something, I can’t believe how far I have come over the last few years.

The changes to my life I have now compared to 3 years ago is incredible! I am determined never to go back. I used to be an anxious wreck and nearly took my own life. My old family really put me down and made me feel I was not wanted, to be honest they did me favour a because I’ve turned out a different person, moving out and moving on was the best decision I have ever made (alongside starting Roller Derby)!

After this massive step forward they stopped me from seeing my little brother, this exacerbated my depression but I did not let it get me down. I cannot thank Heidi Marie Palmer enough and the rest of her family for saving my life, as I wouldn’t be where I am now if it was not for them!

Mental health is a real ass hole! But hey – guess what, I am not letting it beat me!

Since I started roller derby training I really have changed as a person and my confidence has improved. I want to thank everyone who has supported me when I skate on a Wednesday night and am not feeling it – you all manage to get me back up again! Sometimes I feel silly that I’m a slower than others and not able to always join in at the games. I just enjoy watching and skating and socialising and having fun!

I love skating and I always look forward to every Wednesday with Exeter Roller Roller Derby.
